Execution time is no longer the only performance metric for computation systems. In fact, we see a trend of trading raw performance for energy savings. Over the last decade, the power consumption of computing systems has been growing exponentially . Therefore, minimising power consumption has become one of the most critical criteria for these systems. This work aims at power optimisation, using the combination of DPM and DVFS, by mapping applications (SDF graphs) on heterogeneous multiprocessor platforms, partitioned in voltage-frequency islands (VFIs). The results are validated with the MPEG-4 decoder, an MP3 decoder, an MP3 playback application and a Bipartite Graph, mapped on commercially available hardware.
