Nanogels are interesting materials that can be used for many applications, such as drug delivery in cancer treatment and medical imaging. The nanogel particles are created via the process of polymerization, where repeating sub-units known as monomers react to form long branched chains. All conditions that are employed during the polymerization can have influence on the structure of the formed nanogels, such as the choice of molecules and their concentration. To find out the influence of these conditions, lab experiments have to be conducted. This is a time and resource consuming course of action. This is why we propose to create a simulation of the polymerization process which is used to create the nanogel particles. In this presentation I will explain the polymerization process and the hurdles which will need to be overcome when simulating this process.
